Bottom Line

Getting a monitor that will give you enough room to work or even move is one of the best that a baby breathing monitor can give you. It would beat all logic to have a baby breathing monitor that does not give you even space to be away from your baby. Having dinner with your next-door neighbor should not be a problem when it comes to the VTECH baby monitor. It has a wavelength range of 1500 ft. and an extra 50% extra range. How cool is that? Despite the fact that the extra 750 ft. will not be as strong as the first 1500 ft. trust me it will do you some real good when you want to have some time on your backyard or lawn as your baby has a nap. The good thing about this range is that it is not hindered by obstacles such as walls and this allows you to be comfortable even in other rooms other than your baby’s nursery and still know what is happening.

How do breathing monitors work?

A breathing monitor is a device that works effectively to monitor your baby’s breathing and heart rate. However, some parents wonder how these gadgets work. They work by detecting changes in motion in the abdomen and the chest. If your baby’s breathing or movement stops for more than 20 seconds, then an alarm will sound, alerting you of a possible problem with your young one.

Things to Consider When Choosing a Breathing Monitor

A breathing monitor is effective when it comes to tracking your baby’s sleeping pattern, but that does not mean that you should settle with the first product that you lay your eye on the market. Angelcare has a couple of baby monitors, and each one has distinct features. That’s why it is crucial for you to look out for several factors to ensure that you make a wise purchase decision, which will match up to your child’s needs.

Here are some of the key things to consider

        I.            Your budget

Before you decide on the breathing monitor to get your baby, you must consider your spending limit. You must know that there are different products on the market, and all are priced differently; therefore, it is crucial for you to settle with a breathing monitor that matches up to your budget. You don’t have to go out of your way to purchase a breathing monitor; you need to find a quality monitor that falls within your budget limit.

      II.            Range

The majority of breathing monitors come with a transmitter and a receiver. For you to get alerts when there is a breathing complication with your baby, the receiver has to be within a range that it can get the signal from the transmitter. The longer the range of the transmitter, the better.

    III.            Size

If your baby has respiratory problems, then you would be better off with a monitor that allows you to monitor your baby during every naptime, including when you are traveling. And that’s why you need to consider the size of the baby breathing monitor. It is advisable to get a monitor that is small in size for easier portability. Furthermore, the size matters because you have to get a device whose sensor pads will be compatible with the crib’s mattress.

   IV.            Battery life

You must also consider the battery life of the breathing monitor that you wish to get. Most of these devices run on rechargeable batteries, which is why they are portable. However, battery life differs from one monitor to another. You need to get a monitor that can retain its battery power relatively longer.

     V.            Night vision mode

There are breathing monitors that feature a camera, and the parent unit usually has a video feature. Some of these monitors have a night vision mode, which allows you to see and monitor your sleeping infant in the dark. Such a feature can give you peace of mind whenever you sleep because you can see how your baby is sleeping. Moreover, some of these monitors have a night light, and that’s a feature that can soothe your baby into falling into a deep sleep.

   VI.            Sensitivity level

Another major aspect that you need to look out for is the sensitivity level of the monitor that you would like to get. The sensitivity level should match up to your baby, considering that all babies are different, and some happen to be stiller than others. An ideal monitor should have adjustable sensitivity settings, allowing you to set them accordingly. A monitor that does not suit your baby’s movements might sound false alarms, which can be a nuisance.

 VII.            Multiple receivers

Normally monitors come with receivers. You can move around with the receiver to different rooms in your house, but the monitor in your baby’s room stays stationary near the crib. However, you don’t always have to move with the receiver wherever you go. Some models come with multiple receivers, which you can place in separate rooms for convenience. Such monitors are great because they allow different people to monitor the baby, plus you can use the other receivers when one is out of charge or recharging.

VIII.            Audio and video interference filters

One of the most important aspects of a breathing monitor is sound clarity, especially for monitors that have audio only. You need to have a device that will allow you to hear your baby clearly. You must keep in mind that your baby’s room will have background noises, which can be annoying when heard via a baby monitor. And that’s why you should settle for a monitor that has sound interference filters to eliminate the disturbance of the white noise.

    IX.            Durability

Before you make any breathing monitor purchase, you need to consider the longevity of the device. You don’t want to get a device that will get damaged after a few weeks of use. You need to find a gadget that is made of strong material. It should not be easy for your baby to damage when he or she is throwing things around. What’s more, a durable monitor makes yours a wise purchase decision.
